Intercom and identity products extend the security system to visitor decisions, credentials and the physical opening. A video call alone is not proof that the door operator, access controller, elevator or alarm will work together; all interfaces must be verified at the model and version level.

Coverage: Major commercial products relevant to Pennsylvania and Mid-Atlantic facilities. This is a manufacturer-neutral reference, not a statement that every product is available through every installer. Last editorial review: October 2026. Check manufacturer version notes and supported-device lists before purchase.
2N / Axis — 2N Access Commander / IP intercoms
IP visitor entry and commercial access management. 2N offers IP intercoms, indoor answer units and access hardware, with Access Commander providing local management for commercial installations. The system can coordinate users, zones and selected connected devices. Verify exact intercom model, firmware, elevator and gate relays, network or cellular connectivity, video interoperability and supported central administration before designing unattended entry.

Aiphone — IX / IXG IP intercom systems
Commercial and institutional intercoms. Aiphone makes intercom, video door-entry and communication systems for commercial properties, campuses and managed buildings. IX/IXG family selection depends on stations, call routing, visitor behavior and building-wide operations. Check interfaces to access controllers, door-release circuits, mobile answering, network conditions and any security operations workflow; compatibility may require supported modules.

HID Global — Origo / Signo / mobile credentials
Readers, credentials and identity ecosystems. HID develops readers, credential technologies and mobile-access administration capabilities used with many access control platforms. HID is not itself a complete substitute for an access-control server or VMS in every architecture. Confirm reader protocol, credential format, controller support, mobile wallet service, key management and migration arrangements, particularly when replacing legacy proximity credentials.

Zenitel — IC-EDGE / unified critical communications
Intercom and critical communication. Zenitel’s IP intercom and communications portfolio focuses on clear audio, secure interaction and integration with supported security systems. It may be relevant for gates, critical facilities and dispatch or guard stations. Evaluate the actual calling architecture, network resilience, video association, operator controls, microphone/speaker suitability and door-release integration.

ButterflyMX — Video intercom and property access platform
Managed-property visitor access. ButterflyMX provides video intercom and access-related software for managed properties and multifamily/commercial entry use cases. It emphasizes property staff workflows and visitor access via supported devices and apps. Assess the installed hardware, tenant/visitor administration, connectivity, doors and gate relays, recurring charges and any integration with existing access control systems before selection.

Suprema — BioStar 2
Biometric readers and access management. Suprema supplies biometric and credential technologies with BioStar management for supported access applications. It is an option for facilities needing credential and identity workflows. Evaluate biometric privacy obligations, alternatives for users, reader and controller compatibility, enrollment and retention policies, software licensing and third-party video or identity connectors.

ASSA ABLOY — Aperio / wireless locking integrations
Electronic locking and door hardware. ASSA ABLOY is a major door-hardware and electronic-lock supplier; Aperio can connect compatible wireless locks to partner access-control systems. The integration path depends on the specific lock, hub, credential technology and host platform. Assess door condition, egress function, battery service, credential policy and approved controller integrations, especially where an existing door is being retrofitted.

Allegion — Schlage ENGAGE / electronic access
Credentialed locking and door solutions. Allegion makes commercial locking, readers and connected electronic hardware through product families such as Schlage ENGAGE. Host access-system integration depends on the lock model and supported wireless or wired communication path. Compare egress, door suitability, mobile credentials, enrollment, offline functions, battery service and coordination with the main security system.

Checks Before Specifying a Platform
Confirm exact controller and camera models, firmware and application versions, third-party connectors, licenses, event direction, monitoring responsibilities, export requirements, support terms and owner administrative access. Compare a witnessed demonstration against a written acceptance checklist. A manufacturer ecosystem listing does not guarantee interoperability between particular models.
